Resignation of President

On 4 January 2011 our President, Karen Conquergood, sent the following letter to other members of The Board of Sosua Kids:

"I would like to inform one and all that as of today 4th January 2011 I am resigning as President and Member of Sosua Kids.
 
As founder of Sosua Kids I feel we have had a great 11 years.  It has always been my intention to resign - either when the children were no longer in need or the foundation was strong enough to carry on without my help.
 
I pray for the continued success of this very noble venture.
My service to the poor of this Country will continue through my various programs; Eye Care, Medical Assistance, Food Program for Aids Victims and supporting small Independant Schools

Karen was one of the founders of Sosua Kids in 2000.  More recently she was instrumental in leading its move to become a formally-established Asociación Sin Fines De Lucro with a Constitution and Board of Directors.  She has served as President since the Asociación was established in November 2009.  Her colleagues in the association are grateful for the wonderful contribution she has made to its development over the years and are sorry about her departure.  However, we have to respect her decision to now concentrate on all the other work which she carries out voluntarily to help disadvantaged people in the Sosua area.
